AUSTRALIAN John Wade heads the field going in to the final day of The ISM Classic at The Shropshire Golf Centre.
Wade followed up his opening day 68 with a second round six-under-par score of 66 to move two shots ahead of the early leader, James Holmes.
Wade shot just a single bogey to go with his five birdies and an eagle, which he made at the eighth.
Holmes could manage only a one-under-par round of 71 as he fired three bogeys, two birdies and an eagle – at the last hole, as he had done in the first round – to stay in contention.
Five players will still fancy their chances on seven-under-par after the first two rounds, particularly Sam Pigott, whose 66 shot him in to contention.
Graham Rankin (Drumpellier) made six birdies in his round of 66 whilst South African Shaun Norris managed an inconsistent round of five birdies, an eagle, four bogeys and a double bogey.
Justin Griffiths (World Golfer Magazine) carded four birdies, one eagle and three bogeys, admitting he was finding consistency hard to come by.
Finally, David Griffiths of West Herts shot a 68 to join the chasing group as he found his stroke on the back nine after a scrambled opening few holes.
The cut was set at one-under-par with 51 players contesting the third and final day for the money.
Amateur James Busby, playing on his home course off a handicap of +1, finished on 140 (four-under-par), fully justifying his invitation from the venue.
