Break90 Classic comes to De Vere Slaley Hall

August 11th, 2014

De Vere Slaley Hall will play host to the PGA EuroPro Tour’s Break90 Classic this Wednesday to Friday.

The £40,000 tournament, which will be filmed for a two-hour highlights package to be shown on Sky Sports, sees Europe’s leading development tour return to the Northumberland venue’s Priestman Course.

Tee Times: Round One | Round Two

De Vere Slaley Hall last hosted the tour in 2010, but has held Qualifying School First Stage events for the EuroPro Tour since then. The Break90 Classic will be the 13th of 16 main-season events before the Tour Championship in October, where the top 60 players will have one last chance to earn vital money for the Order Of Merit, from which the top five at the end of the season earn Challenge Tour cards.

Among the 156-strong field will be Northumberland’s Garrick Porteous, the 2013 Amateur Champion who won his first professional event on PGA EuroPro Tour at The Astbury in June just six weeks after relinquishing his amateur status once he had competed in The Masters at Augusta.

Daniel Godding, Director of Operations for the PGA EuroPro Tour, said: “I am delighted to be bringing the tour back to De Vere Slaley Hall for the Break90 Classic this summer.

“Break90 are a great supporter of the Tour and we couldn’t do these events without their backing. The Priestman Course at De Vere Slaley Hall is one of the best in England and it is great to be able to have it on our schedule again this year.

“The support for the Tour in the north east has always been strong, and I hope golf fans will once again take advantage of free entry and come and see just how good these young golfers are.”
