The PGA EuroPro Tour is delighted to announce that Burhill Golf Club in Surrey will host an event in July.
The Walton-on-Thames venue welcomes the Tour from Thursday July 30 to Saturday August 1 when the players will tackle the spectacular New Course which opened in May 2001. The club celebrated its centenary year in 2007 and the EuroPro Tour will be its first exposure on television.
“Burhill is a fantastic addition to the 2009 schedule,” said Tour Operations Manager Danny Nickless. “David Cook and his team have a venue to be proud of and I’m sure that they will pull out all the stops for what promises to be a great event on a very challenging golf course.”
Colin Mayes, Chief Executive of Burhill Golf & Leisure Ltd, said: “We look forward to welcoming the PGA EuroPro Tour to Burhill Golf Club’s New Course, which will present an excellent challenge to the young professionals and an enjoyable experience for sponsors, corporate teams and their guests playing in the Pro-Am.
“Burhill Golf Club, with its two 18-hole championship courses and stately clubhouse, close to London and the M25, is a popular venue for business golf. Hosting a PGA Europro Tour underlines the quality of our New Course and is an excellent opportunity for companies to entertain clients in a unique way, playing alongside Europe’s best up-and-coming professionals. It should be an outstanding event.”
Burhill’s Director of Golf is former European Tour rookie of the year Pip Elson, father of EuroPro Tour regular Jamie. The event starts a day later than usual, with the Pro-Am on Wednesday July 29 and the Practice Round on Tuesday.
