The HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour returns to Burhill Golf Club this week, as the long-standing host venue welcomes players to Surrey for the Kerry London Championship.
Golfers on Europe’s leading development tour will again be teeing it up on the New Course, which is renowned for having some of the best greens on tour.
Among the favourites for the £10,000 winner’s prize is Jack Senior, the former Walker Cup star who has already achieved first and second-placed finishes this season.
Last year’s winner at Burhill, Richard Wallis, fell agonisingly short of making the top five on the Tour’s Order of Merit, which would have earned him a category on the Challenge Tour.
The Walmer and Kingsdown golfer was in outstanding form last June, shooting a final-round 67 on the par-72 New Course to finish the 54 holes -15. The following day he shot a Guinness World Record 59 for -14 in a PGA Pro-Am, the lowest score on a par-73 course in a professional competition.
Also in action this week is Gary O’Neil, who was part of the QPR team who gained promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs at the weekend.
Daniel Godding, Director of Operations at the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour said: “I am delighted to be bringing the tour to Burhill once again for the Kerry London Championship.
“Both Burhill Golf Club and Kerry London are great long-standing backers of the Tour and the players always relish this tournament, as they know just how good the fast, immaculate greens are.”
The Kerry London Championship is a 54-hole event played over three days, commencing Thursday, May 29 and concluding on Saturday, May 31. Spectator entry is free throughout the tournament, which will be filmed for a two-hour highlights package to be broadcast on Sky Sports HD at 8pm on June 10, with repeats the following day.
