Clipper Logistics Championship

Clipper Logistics Championship

September 23rd, 2013

The PGA EuroPro Tour stages its final event before Tour Championship this week, with Moor Allerton Golf Club in Leeds hosting the Clipper Logistics Championship.

For the 108 competitors the tournament is a final chance to earn vital Order of Merit money, with only the top 60 at the end of the week invited to play the season-ending Tour Championship at Prince’s next month.

Golfers are playing for their share of a £40,000 prize fund, with the winner taking home £10,000. At the end of the season the top five on the Order of Merit will gain Challenge Tour cards for 2014 and the race to earn one is set to be one of the closest ever. Any of the current top 27 golfers on the Order of Merit could move into the top five with victory in Yorkshire this week.

Daniel Godding, Director of Operations for the PGA EuroPro Tour said: “The race to finish in the top five will go right down to the wire and we know finishing in the top 60 is always a closely-run affair too.

“This will be the first time we have staged an event at Moor Allerton Golf Club. It is a brilliant course and I have no doubt the professionals will be impressed.”

The Clipper Logistics Championship is a 54-hole strokeplay event with a cut to the leading 50 players plus ties after 36 holes. The first round will be played on Wednesday, September 25 with the final round on Friday 27. Spectator entry to the event is free throughout the week and a two-hour highlights show will be broadcast at 8pm on Sky Sports 3 on Tuesday, October 8, repeated four times on Wednesday, October 9.
