THE PGA EuroPro Tour are delighted to confirm that they will stage the Doncaster Open at Owston Hall Golf Club from 22-24 June.
The event is the latest in the 2005 calendar to be confirmed as providing an extended prize fund of £50,000 for the World’s leading young players.
Owston Hall, situated to the north of Doncaster town centre, first hosted a PGA EuroPro Tour event in 2002.
“We are delighted to be returning to Owston Hall Golf Club,” said PGA EuroPro Tour Director Eddie Hearn.
“Last year’s tournament was of high quality, and events such as this are integral in the PGA EuroPro Tour’s status as the World’s leading developmental tour.
“The increase in prize fund will make the Doncaster Open one of the leading golf events in the UK this year, and the opening of the nearby Robin Hood Airport will give even better access for an international field.
“We are delighted to add this prestigious tournament to the 2005 PGA EuroPro Tour Schedule.”
The Doncaster venue is now a regular on the PGA EuroPro Tour calendar, with Andrew Butterfield (pictured) winning last year’s Matchroom Golf Management event by two shots after leading throughout.
“We are delighted to be welcoming back the PGA EuroPro Tour in 2005 for the Doncaster Open,” said Owston Hall director Jamie Parker.
“The event will be one of the biggest on the schedule this year and we look forward to working closely with Matchroom, the PGA and Doncaster Council in making this a major sporting occasion for Doncaster.”
