DUTCHMAN John Boredonk has added reason to succeed in The PokerMillion.Com Championship, as he challenges for a place in the KLM Dutch Open.
Boredonk is one of the players handed an invitational place to this week’s PGA EuroPro Tour event at Collingtree Park, and one of four players from Holland.
While success in Northampton is his main objective, he also has one eye on the progress of Simon Crosby, with the duo currently battling for a place in the KLM Dutch Open.
“This is the last tournament which counts towards the International Order of Merit,” he explained.
“The top three get a place in the KLM Dutch Open, and I am sat in fourth at the moment, around €300 behind Simon Crosby.
“Simon is also playing this week, which makes it very interesting and means I have to do well.
“If we both fail to make the cut, he will get in, but if we both make the cut and I earn over €300 more than him I am in.
“I’d like to thank Kevin Feeney and the PGA EuroPro Tour for the invitation – this gives me a great chance.”
John has a great sporting background, having played football to a high standard until turning professional as a golfer three years ago.
“When I was around 17 I played with Ruud van Nistelrooy in a Regional team,” he revealed. “We played in a couple of tournaments, the most important was in France.
“We were both strikers so we were competing for the same spot – I think you can guess who won that!
“But this is my third year as a golf pro now, and hopefully I can have lots of success in the future.”
