Early Insight: Cubefunder Shootout

May 3rd, 2022

The PGA EuroPro Tour season will open with a visit to Harleyford Golf Club, as the players’ preparation will have finished just in time for the Cubefunder Shootout.

For those members who narrowly missed out on qualification, a new campaign begins – which means fresh hope in their bid for promotion to the Challenge Tour.

Venue Information

Nestled deep into the Harleyford country estate lies Harleyford Golf Club, one of the more modern layouts that the tour will be visiting this year.

The club enlisted renowned architect Donald Steel to design the loop during the mid-1990s, and the result is simply mesmerising.

This parkland setting provides a wonderful environment for golf, as the lightly bunkered fairways are protected by trees that line the perimeter.

Boasting a par of 72 and measuring 6,903 yards, accuracy coupled with length should be the perfect combination for scoring opportunities.

The course’s main defence, however, is in its greens – which have been constructed to USGA specification.

There are several standout holes that are present at Harleyford, with the first highlight being the par-4 7th.

Measuring an intimidating 467 yards, this is also the most demanding hole that the players will encounter on the front nine.

Successive par-5s follow, which should offer the golfers a touch of reprieve – with both holes presenting birdie opportunities if in position.

The signature hole resides on the back nine and it is in the form of a 176-yard downhill par-3, where the severely sloped green must be accurately judged if the players are hoping to escape with par.

Perhaps the best approach is to stay below the hole and avoid the sand at all costs, as any minor mistake can quickly lead to a dropped shot or more.

Jack Slade, General Manager of Harleyford Golf Club, is happy to be opening the season for the second consecutive year.

“We are super excited about our fourth visit from the PGA EuroPro Tour. It is such an honour to host the opening event of the season and we do not doubt that the course will live up to its challenging yet enjoyable reputation.”

Daniel Godding, CEO of the PGA EuroPro Tour, is thrilled to have Harleyford Golf Club involved for yet another year.

“Harleyford is a fantastic course to open up our season. One of the most supportive home crowds on the circuit, it’s a venue our players love each year. This will mark the second consecutive year that Harleyford Golf Club will open the new EuroPro season, and I know the players cannot wait for the campaign to begin.

“A fantastic test of golf, the scoring was prominent throughout the tournament last year, and we are hoping for another week of low scoring.”

Previous Visit

Similarly to this season, the 2021 EuroPro Tour schedule opened with a visit to Harleyford Golf Club for the IFX Championship.

The campaign began in scintillating fashion, as both Gian-Marco Petrozzi and Nicholas Poppleton finished at 17-under for their three rounds.

Petrozzi triumphed in the subsequent playoff and Reece Samson was one back from the duo, finishing solo third.

John Parry produced a fascinating final round, carding nine-under for the day to sneak into the top 10 at T9.

There was a five-way tie for T4, which included Harry Goddard, who is managed by this year’s sponsor: Trinifold Sports Management.

Sponsor Information

Trinifold Sports Management will be sponsoring the first event, and with several of their golfers scheduled to tee it up in Buckinghamshire, they will have a close eye on their prospects.

To carve a successful career as a professional golfer is a fundamentally difficult task, which is something that Trinifold are wisely aware of.

Through an array of business contacts, they help their players secure long-term employment in alternative sectors if they opt to leave their career in golf.

However, whilst they remain fixated on their dream career, they are offered unconditional financial and emotional assistance to help unlock their hidden potential.

Partnering with Trinifold as joint sponsors for the inaugural event of the season is Cubefunder, who blend a mix of technology and human interaction to provide fast and flexible financing solutions.

Cubefunder focus on limited companies, as opposed to individuals, and you can find out more information here.

With the season impending steadily, it is soon time to see what hopefuls will be making their mark on the UK’s largest developmental golf tour.

Spectator entry into all the events throughout the season is free, and we highly encourage attendance for every tournament.

The 2022 PGA EuroPro Tour campaign will get underway on May 25 for the Cubefunder Shootout.
