Congratulations to all of the PGA Europro Tour players who earned their European Tour cards at Qualifying School!
The PGA Europro Tour was well represented at the final stage held at Emporda Golf Club and Golf Platja de Pals in Spain. Players faced a gruelling test over six rounds, with only the top 35 and ties from the 168 hopefuls receiving a Category 11 for the 2004 schedule.
The Qualifying School Finals were won by Richard McEvoy, who finished seventh in the 2002 PGA Europro Tour Order of Merit after winning two events during the season, before progressing to the Challenge Tour for 2003. McEvoy’s incredible aggregate of 400 equalled the lowest ever winning total at the Qualifying School – set by Per Nyman last year – and left former Walker Cup player McEvoy 28 under par for the tournament.
The winner of the 2003 PGA Europro Tour Order of Merit, Tom Whitehouse, was among those players to gain their European Tour cards after finishing in 22nd place. Other PGA Europro Tour members who secured their places for 2004 were Matthew Cort, Ben Banks, Daniel Gaunt, Steven O’Hara, David Dixon, Alan McLean and Louis Oosthuizen.
