EuroPro players progess in Open qualifying

June 26th, 2013

The PGA EuroPro Tour will be well represented at Local Final Qualifying for the Open Championship next week after 52 members proceeded from the Regional stage on Monday.

The leaderboards at nine of the 14 Regional Qualifying venues were headed by PGA EuroPro Tour players, with Mark Laskey, Zane Scotland, Marcus Armitage, James Watts, Tom Fleming, Paul Grannell, Paul McKechnie, Luke Joy and Neil O’Briain all winning their stage.

The 52 will now play two rounds at one of four Local Final Qualifying venues on Tuesday, July 2.

Daniel Godding, Director of Operations for the PGA EuroPro Tour, said: “It was great to see so many of our members succeed in regional qualifying for this year’s Open Championship.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate them all, and wish each player the very best for next week. We’ll be keeping a close eye on events in Scotland and I’m right behind all of our members.

“Playing in The Open Championship is something every golfer dreams of when they start out in the game, and I’m sure more of our players will fulfil that dream this year.

“As a development tour one of our primary goals is to see EuroPro players go on and succeed at the very top, which is why we are proud to list the likes of Louis Oosthuizen, Nicolas Colsaerts and 2009 Order of Merit winner Scott Jamieson among our former members.”
