The PGA EuroPro Tour returns to Northern Ireland this week for the fifth event of the season.
This three-day tournament, called The Galgorm Castle Northern Ireland Open in association with Ulster Bank, begins on Wednesday and concludes on Friday.
More than 150 players will be taking part and excitement is building after a fantastic competition at Galgorm Castle in 2010 where more than 1,000 people watched the final day’s play.
Thomas O’Flynn (Fota Island), summed up the thoughts of many players when he said: “The course is in great shape and the greens are real smooth. I can’t wait to get started!â€
“I can confirm that this week’s venue Galgorm Castle comes under the category of ‘mega’,†added Tom Boys (Royal Liverpool).
Danny Nickless, Operations Manager for the EuroPro Tour, was delighted to be returning to Northern Ireland. “It is fantastic to be returning to Galgorm where all the staff are so pro-active and it seems as though everybody in Northern Ireland gets behind the event,†said Nickless.
“Last year we had over a thousand people attend the last day to see a thrilling climax when James Hepworth won in a play-off over now European Tour Player Dan Gaunt.
“Three months after this Dan went on to finish fourth in the Australian Masters one shot ahead of a certain Tiger Woods.
“It’s nice to return to this quality course and the hospitality of the Northern Irish people.â€
