Ex-EuroPro man Fisher nets European Open win

July 7th, 2008

Former EuroPro Tour player Ross Fisher romped to victory at the European Open in Kent at the weekend – bagging a great win for Tour partner MatchroomBets.com in the process.

Fisher, who played on the EuroPro Tour back in 2005, won the title by seven shots from Sergio Garcia, with a final round of 68 taking him to 20 under for the tournament.

Sam Pigott, former EuroPro Tour player and now commentator on the Tour, tipped Fisher to win the event at 70-1 on MatchroomBets.com, saying Ross’ big hitting could be the key to victory.A number of current Ivobank PGA EuroPro Tour players are in action in the local final qualifying events for The Open Championship – with Jamie Elson flying after a hole-in-one in his opening round of five under at Hillside in Southport. Qualifying finishes on Wednesday (July 9) when we will look at the players from the EuroPro Tour who have made it to Royal Birkdale.
