Nicolas Colsaerts picked up his first win as a professional at the SK Golf Challenge at Linna Golf Club in Finland to end his nine year wait for a title.
The Belgian, who has appeared in several tournaments on the EuroPro Tour in 2002 and 2008, carded a fantastic final round 66 to end at 11 under for the four rounds – the same score as Rhys Davies and Julien Guerrier, whom Colsaerts saw off in a on the second hole of a play-off to take the title.
“It’s taken me nine years for the first professional event and it feels really good,” said Colsaerts, who moves to seventh in the Order of Merit with the win. “I felt I should have won in Ireland in June but lost a play-off to Robert Coles, so I am glad to come out as a winner this time. I was glad to put in such a strong finish and I knew I just had to sit and wait to see what the others did.”
Current Tour top ten men Scott Jamieson and Steve Surry finished in 26th and 47th spot respectively.
