RICHARD FINCH has established a one shot lead after the opening day of the 2004 PGA EuroPro Tour Championship, the final event of the season.
Finch (Hull) shot a 67 including five birdies, an eagle and two bogeys as he enjoyed the company of his manager Eddie Hearn, acting as caddie for his client.
In perfect weather conditions, Finch kept his nerve to stay one shot in front of Oliver Whiteley (Special Steel Group) managed five birdies and a bogey to card a round of 68 (four-under-par), the same as South African Michiel Bothma (Swallow Hotels) who managed seven birdies, a bogey and a double bogey.
Geoffrey Harris (Reading) is a further shot behind on three-under-par after a 69 whilst eight players have formed an ominous group on 71.
