FORMER PGA EuroPro Tour star Richard Finch has announced himself on the European Tour after taking a three-shot lead in the Telecom Italia Open in Milan.
Finch, who finished as runner-up to Simon Lilly at the 2004 Tour Championship, is playing in his first year on European Tour.
He currently holds a three-stroke lead at -12 following his second round at the Italia Open, having shot a nine-under-par 63 on Friday.
Matchroom Golf star Finch is trailed by Paul Broadhurst, Bradley Dredge and Gregory Havret, with another former PGA EuroPro Tour star, Simon Khan, chasing the leaders on Friday afternoon.
At the Challenge Tour’s Firstplus Wales Challenge, a number of PGA EuroPro Tour players are challenging second round leader Carl Suneson.
Martin Sell is four shots behind Suneson on -1, with Graham Gordon three shots further back and Ben Welch and David Fisher on +3.
Former EuroPro Tour stars Denny Lucas, James Holmes and Colm Moriarty are also in contention.
“It’s great to see these guys doing so well,” said PGA EuroPro Tour Chief Executive Eddie Hearn.
“This is further proof that our philosophy of providing opportunities for players to show their talent on the World’s leading developmental golf tour is working.
“Hopefully Richard, and all the players, can continue their success over the weekend and provide an inspiration to the future stars for next week’s Kronenbourg Classic at Whitekirk.”
