FORMER PGA EuroPro Tour star Richard Finch secured a second-placed finish at the Telecom Italia Open, his best result to date on the European Tour.
The Hull-based golfer, who finished second to Simon Lilly at last year’s PGA EuroPro Tour Championship, ended the tournament three shots behind Steve Webster.
Bradley Dredge and Anders Hansen, who shot 69 and 66 respectively on the final day, joined Finch on -15 to share second place.
Finch’s second round 63 saw him move into the lead at -12, although Webster took a one-shot advantage into the final day after Finch dropped a shot on the last to leave himself on 13-under-par after three rounds.
He finished strongly on the final day, covering the back nine holes in four under-par to end with a 70, but it was not enough to earn him a maiden European Tour victory.
The €96,940 cheque moves Finch up to 46th on the European Tour Order of Merit.
