PGA EuroPro Tour graduate Ross Fisher came tantalisingly close to becoming the first player to win a Major after playing on the EuroPro Tour with a fifth place result at the US Open.
Fisher eagled the 13th to move within one stroke of the leaders but bogeys at 15 and 17 meant he finished at one under for the tournament, three shots behind winner Lucas Glover. The 28 year-old – who appeared on the EuroPro Tour in 2005 and pictured in action at that year’s Wensum Valley event – is in fourth spot in the European Tour’s Race to Dubai standings, with a second place finish at the PGA BMW Champinoship at his home club Wentworth the other highlight of his summer so far.
