DUTCHMAN Inder Van Weerelt holds a one-shot overnight lead at The Stoke by Nayland International Open – although rain delays mean that the second round will be completed on Thursday.
Heavy thunderstorms across Essex caused a three-hour delay in play on Wednesday, meaning that ten groups will finish their second round early on Thursday morning.
The final round is expected to begin around 9.30am following the cut, with Van Weerelt producing a brilliant showing to move into the lead.
The Dutchman was on level par after the first round, but shot an eight-under-par 64 to move a shot clear of Paul Curry.
Curry followed up a 70 with a 67 to put himself on -7, with Russell Claydon on -6 after hitting the same score on Wednesday.
A superb finish from David James saw him move out to -5 – hitting five successive birdies on the back nine on his way to a 68.
Kieran Staunton and Colin Mitchell are a further shot back on -4, with Andrew Willey and Michael Searle at -3.
