JEREMY KAVANAGH has set the early pace on the first day of The Kronenbourg Classic at Whitekirk.
The Stoke Park golfer opened the event with a three-under-par 69 to put himself into the lead in North Berwick.
After opening with a bogey, he responded with three successive birdies and added another at his tenth hole on the way to a 69.
“It was a nice way to start,” said Kavanagh. “The weather will hopefully hold up and the course was in excellent condition.
“Two of the birdies were at par-fives early in the round, and it was good to get them there and build on that.
“I’m taking one step at a time this week, and to be honest I’m just concentrating on one shot at a time, not the outcome.”
