Lloyd (The Kendleshire) has come close to victory several times on the EuroPro over the last two seasons and final got his hands on a trophy and the £10,000 winners’ cheque at the historic links course on Scotland’s east coast.

He had started the day in the share of the lead but spent most of the afternoon chasing after Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck Golf Club) and Nick Marsh (Huddersfield Golf Club) both carded seven-under-par 64 for their final rounds to finish at -13.

But Lloyd, who dropped two shots on the front nine to turn level for the round, birdied the 10th, 13th and 15th to form a two-stroke lead as he came down the home stretch and he saw out the win with three consecutive pars.

“I feel like I have been knocking on the door for a little while now,” admitted Lloyd, who also wins a brand new Motocaddy S3 PRO electric trolley with lithium battery, Bushnell Pro X2 Range Finder and Bolle sunglasses.

“There is a bit of relief there and plenty of satisfaction. I was level par through seven when really you would want to be a couple under by then. But I stayed patient and backed myself. I hit some good shots coming in and made some good putts. The putter won me the tournament this week.

“All week I have bounced back from bogeys with birdies which shows you where I am at in my headspace at the moment. When I got on to 17 I had a feeling I was two ahead and that tee shot gets narrower and narrower with gorse left, OB right and I knew if I found the fairway I would be home and dry. That was probably the best drive I hit all week.

“It is great to be top of the Race To Amendoeira. There is still a long way to go this season so I want to push on and try and win a few more.”

Stewart and Marsh took home £4,500 each after sharing second place while Sam Prince (Northenden Golf Club) and Robert Burlison (Enville Golf Club) finished tied fourth on -12.

Highlights of the Eagle Orchid Scottish Masters will air on Sky Sports on Tuesday, June 27.

The PGA EuroPro Tour continues with the PDC Golf Championship at Studley Wood Golf Club, Oxford from Wednesday, June 21 to Friday, June 23.
