Jamie Moul carried on his fine form at the PartyPoker.com PGA EuroPro Tour Qualifying School at Frilford Heath, finishing his first round four under par.
Moul came out on top in the first stage at his home course Stoke by Nayland last week and looks like a strong contender going into the second round tomorrow (Thursday). Moul birdied the 5th, 8th and 9th down the front nine and picked up another shot at 17 to complete a tidy round. Joining Moul at the top of the leaderboard is Ian Lyner (The Leicestershire) who bogeyed 18 to surrender the outright lead, and Scot Chris McCalman, who picked up his birdies at the 2nd, 5th 6th and 8th. Moul and Lyner were on the Blue course, with McCalman on the Red – with the players switching round tomorrow.
Steven Ritchie (Farrington) had an eventful day at Frilford, with five birdies and a double bogey in his first six holes getting him off to a flier. An eagle at the tenth left him four under, but three bogeys down the back nine meant he ended the day at three under, where he is joined by Andy Smith (Chart Hills), Kevin Barnes and Jonathan Bevitt.
Play on the opening day of the PartyPoker.com PGA EuroPro Tour Qualifying School final stage at Frilford Heath was delayed for 90 minutes due to fog on a cold day in Oxford, and the chilly conditions affected the play, with just 14 players of those who have finished under par for the day, with play likely to continue until 7pm due to the late start.
