MICHAEL NESBIT leads the way going in to the final day of the 2004 PGA EuroPro Tour season as he took a one-shot lead at the MosaTrajectum.com Tour Championship.
Nesbit, attached to Matfen Hall was the winner of The Golf Pages Trophy at Whittlebury Park earlier in the season and continued his good form with a second round 68 (four-under-par) for a total of 139 (five-under-par).
Four birdies in the first eight holes helped Nesbit on his way, and further gained strokes at 10 and 12 compensated for bogeys at four and 16 but Nesbit did have more chances to have lowered his score further.
In second place is Oliver Whiteley (Special Steel Group) who held his place on the leaderboard overnight with a level par 72 to go to 140 overall.
Simon Lilly (Wellingborough) picked up four shots on the day with a 68 to join Whiteley – but it could have been better had he not bogeyed 16 and 17.
Tilsworth’s Darren Charlton is a further shot behind on 141 after a three-under-par second day.
Charlton picked up four shots over the first five holes and then eagled the 11th but he three-putted the 16th and 18th to drop back down.
Graeme Clarke (Special Steel Group) and Joe Templer (Henley) will also fancy their chances on the third day as they too stand on 141 following their second rounds.
