Ones to Watch: Foxhills Club and Resort

March 6th, 2018

As the PGA EuroPro Tour season continues to look ahead to the new courses set to feature in the 2018 season, we sat down with Foxhills Director of Golf Chris Fitt, who is delighted to host Europe’s leading development tour.

“We’ve worked hard in the last few years in an effort to prepare the courses for tournament golf and we’re confident the Bernard Hunt course will provide a great challenge for these world class aspiring professionals.”: said Fitt.

At just short of 6,900 yards, the Bernard Hunt course favours the big hitters, but still requires accuracy in approach, according to Fitt.

“It’s the longer of our two courses but with relatively small greens, requiring both length off the tee and accurate approach shots. The greens will be fast and undulating so they can expect some testing pin placements.”: he said.

With five par 5’s featuring on the Bernard Hunt course, golfers have ample opportunity for birdies, and eagle chances in some cases for those who have distance off the tee.

Fitt said: “When the PGA EuroPro Tour comes to Foxhills in July, the greens will be fast, especially if they are caught the wrong side of the pins. With the occasional wayward drive not being too damaging, this course set up will be enticing for those pros who really want to open their shoulders on the tee.”

When Europe’s brightest upcoming stars take on the Bernard Hunt course, they can expect challenges on the 4th and 17th holes, both lengthy par 3’s. And whilst the course won’t be the tightest they face, the rough will be punishing.

The PGA EuroPro Tour is Europe’s leading development tour, and the European Tour’s satellite in the UK and Ireland.

Offering direct access to the Challenge Tour through the final Order of Merit, PGA EuroPro Tour players will compete for over £1.2million of prize money in 2018, with the top five golfers at the end of the season awarded a category on the 2019 Challenge Tour.

Providing vital experience of life on tour, players will compete in 15 main events at some of the UK and Ireland’s premier golfing venues.
