JOHN WADE has won his second successive PGA EuroPro Tour event, prevailing in a play-off against Daniel Greenwood and James Hepworth to secure The Uplands Classic at The Players Club.
Wade, who took the £10,000 winners’ cheque from The Kronenbourg Classic at Whitekirk last week, was forced to come through a play-off this time around to seal victory at the second extra hole.
He had led by two shots at the start of the third round, having shot a 68 to move out to -5 on Thursday, with Hepworth on -3.
Forest Pines star Greenwood’s superb 66 on Friday saw him move onto -2 and put pressure on the leading group.
Both Wade and Hepworth saw themselves slip to join him at two-under-par to force the first play-off of this year’s tour.
Hepworth saw his tee shot at the first extra hole land in a bunker and he could only recover for a five.
Greenwood agonisingly saw his 12 foot birdie putt stop short, and he joined Wade in scoring a par, eliminating Hepworth as they returned to play the 18th hole again.
Greenwood this time hit his tee shot right before finding the greenside bunker, but recovered well to set up a four-foot par putt.
Wade, though, had already given himself a 12 foot birdie putt for the title, and clinically found the hole to take victory.
A final round 73 from Anton Haig saw the young South African take fourth place after ending on level par four the tournament, with four players back on +3.
