The PGA EuroPro Tour 2019 season gets underway later next week at Brocket Hall with The IFX Payments Championship taking centre stage on week one, May 22-24.
It’s the first time the tour will go to Welwyn Garden City with players taking on the challenging Palmerston Course, listed as one of the best courses in the UK.
Brocket Hall is steeped in history with two former Prime Ministers taking residence over the years. The two courses funnily enough named after both of them. The Palmerston and The Melbourne.
The ancient woodland around the estate is the beating heart of the Palmerston course the players will take on with 500-year-old oak trees creating numerous challenging areas to contend with.
Order of Merit winner Dave Coupland is part of the field that will also include Q School 2019 winners Robert Burlison and Jamie Dick as well as Chris Gane, Lefthandedgolf at Silvermere, who finished just short of a Challenge Tour spot last time around. Richard Mansell of Beau Desert Golf Club will return to the tour for his second season after his debut campaign ended in a 12th placed finish on the order of merit.
Tom Shadbolt will play his home course in the hope of finding some rhythm after reaching the Final Qualifying School second stage at Frilford Heath in April.
The tournament gets underway on Wednesday 22nd May with it concluding on Friday 24th May. A full field of 156 golfers will play 36 holes, before a cut to the leading 50 professionals and ties who will contest the final round. 14 nations will be represented on Day 1, more than started the Tour off last year at Frilford Heath.
It’s free for spectators to go down and watch with live scoring available on our website once play gets underway.
Highlights of The IFX Payments Championship 2019 will air on Sky Sports on 4, June 2019.
The Tour goes to Harleyford Golf Club for The Matchroom Sport Championship next week for the second event of the season.
