Senior leads way at BGC British Masters

Senior leads way at BGC British Masters

May 3rd, 2012

Jack Senior holds a one-shot lead on seven under par after a weather-affected second-day at the BGC British Masters at Lingfield Park.

Heavy rain waterlogging parts of the course delayed the start of Round Two but play eventually got underway at 2:15pm on Thursday (May 3).

With almost six hours lost to the weather the decision was made to take the cut using the scores after Round One and proceed with the top 50 and ties playing the final 36 holes. This was to give the tournament the best possible chance of being concluded through 54 holes. Players who had carded one over par or better made the cut, equating to 58 golfers.

Not all players were able to complete their Second Round on Thursday so will be out at 8am on Friday to complete the round. Because of this the groups will remain the same for the Final Round, which will also tee off at 8am.

Senior (Heysham Golf Club) birdied the third, eighth, ninth and eleventh to card four under through 11 on his second round, leaving him seven under for the tournament with seven holes to play on Friday morning.

Stuart Manley (Machynys Peninsula) trails Senior by a shot after carding three under through 11 on his second round, while overnight leader George Woolgar (Capitalservices/F Bell) is level through six second-round holes and will continue on five under for the tournament when play resumes.

A gripping final day is in prospect at Lingfield Park with five golfers three shots off the lead.

John-Paul Banbury (Moor Hall), Wallace Booth (Comrie Golf Club), Steve Surry (Cumberwell Park) and John Gallagher (Swanston) are all on four under through 11 while James Ruth (St Mellion International) has the same overall score through nine second-round holes.

Live scoring from Lingfield Park will be available on this website and entry to the event is free for spectators.
