Former PGA EuroPro Tour winner Lee Slattery picked up his first win in six years with a dazzling performance in the Telenet Trophy in Belgium on the Challenge Tour.
Slattery recorded rounds of 64, 68, 68 and 67 to finish 21 under par for the tournament, four strokes clear of runner-up Edouard Dubois to pocket the €24,000 winner’s cheque.
“This means so much,†said Slattery, who won two events on the 2004 PGA EuroPro Tour. “I’ve worked so hard over the last three months with my coach, putting in the hours. And it’s obviously paid off.â€
Slattery moves into the top ten on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit after the win, sitting in seventh spot. That sees him ten places ahead of Lloyd Kennedy, the third place finisher on the 2008 PGA EuroPro Tour Order of Merit, who finished in third spot at the recent Mugello Tuscany Open.
