DANIEL GAUNT will hope to make it third time lucky when the PGA EuroPro Tour visits Bristol for The Upplands Classic this week.
Gaunt has finished in second place in the opening two events of the 2005 season, seeing his lead disappear during the closing holes of each tournament.
The Australian was overhauled on the final hole at Wensum Valley when Andrew Marshall chipped in from off the green, before a three-stroke lead disappeared in the final seven holes against John Wade at Whitekirk last week.
Wildwood Park golfer Gaunt is among the 168 players who will tee off at The Players Club near Bristol on Wednesday in a bid to claim the £10,000 winner’s cheque.
European Tour member Mark Sanders, who hails from Bristol and is a former English Amateur champion, will also be among the field, and Players Club professional Scott Thompson hopes to make an impression on his home course.
Young South African pair Anton Haig and Matthew Kent will be joined by former Walker Cup pair Noel Fox and Graham Gordon.
James Holmes, who finished fourth on the 2004 PGA EuroPro Tour Order of Merit, makes his first appearance of this year on the tour, as do Challenge Tour members Shaun Webster and James Hepworth.
