It promises to be a thrilling final day in the opening PGA EuroPro Tour event of the 2011 season as more than a dozen golfers will be confident of glory.

Scotland’s Ed Wood and England’s Jamie Howarth (pictured) are leading the race for the £10,000 prize as they are both on two-under after two days play.

A shot further back are James Freeman and Jamie Abbott, while George Cowan is on evens in the YourGolfTravel.com European Championship at Wensum Valley, Norfolk.

Tim Rice, Martin LeMesurier, Jason Levermore and day one leader James Busby are all on one-over, while John Gallagher, Darryn Lloyd and John Chamberlain are on two-over.

Ed Wood and Jamie Howarth are the last pairing to go out on the third day and they begin their third rounds at 11.54am.

The top 50 players after the first two rounds have advanced to today’s final round with the cut coming at the eight-over mark.

Some big names have failed to make the last round after a tricky two day’s play, which saw windy conditions at the start of Tuesday and a 30-minute delay due to frost on Wednesday morning.

Zane Scotland, Scott Drummond, Gary Wolstenholme and Dale Marmion were among the big-name casualties. Scotland and Drummond ended on eight-over, while Wolstenholme and Marmion were a shot further back, although Marmion was still confident of a good season.

He said: “Disappointed to have missed the first cut on the EuroPro. But I did the same in 2009 when I got my card so hopefully this is a good omen.”
