Wade Takes The Lead

April 19th, 2008

AUSTRALIAN John Wade established a one shot lead going in to the final round of The Ufford Park Classic in Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Wade hit a magnificent seven-under-par round of 63 which included eight birdies – six in seven holes – as he went out in 29!

“I played good, solid golf and holed some great putts, he said. “Five birdies in a row was great and I capitalised on my chances.

The international feel to the event continued as Dutchman Inder Van Weerelt took outright second after a round of 66 (four-under-par) which took him to 132 (eight-under-par) for the event.

Van Weerelt hit six birdies after dropping two early shots and starts his final round just a single shot behind Wade.

Tying for third place a further shot behind on 133 (seven-under-par) are Ryan Fenwick (Bognor Regis) and Lee Wood (Tewkesbury).

Fenwick picked up two shots over the round whilst Wood gained five to climb the leaderboard.

56 players made the cut, which was set at one-over-par.
